So, I clicked on the link "Civony Free Forever" about two-three weeks ago and found myself a part of a beta-testing community for a new strategy MMO.  Since then, they've changed the name to "Evony"; and while it is still "Free Forever" there are game coins you can purchase to "enhance your gaming experience". To date, I have purchased nothing. Not because I don't want to support the game—I play it enough that supporting it should be something I'm willing to do—but because it touts the "free forever" bit so boldy. IMO, it is bad marketing, so I refrain from donation. Plus, the thing may be out of beta testing; but they are still having server issues, bug problems, and making game modifications that I don't necessarily agree with.

 

So how is it? Well, it's okay, but not great. But then, it's free... and you know what they say: You get what you pay for.
